60 Years of Expertise in PTFE Seals
For over 60 years, we have been manufacturing PTFE products for a wide range of sealing applications. We strategically deploy our specialized manufacturing facilities and extensive expertise to address our customers' unique sealing challenges.
PTFE stands out due to its excellent chemical and electrical properties and offers exceptional thermal resistance, which is hardly matched by other commercially available plastics. The material can be used in a temperature range of -200 °C to +260 °C.
Our development team is continuously working on processing further high-performance materials such as POM-C, PE, PA6, PA6.6, PFA, PEEK, PCTFE, and PVDF, to develop innovative solutions for diverse applications.
The result: High-precision, temperature- and media-resistant PTFE seals for the most demanding applications.
- PTFE Seals for Valves, Pumps, and Flanges

PTFE-Encapsulated O-Rings
We possess the expertise to manufacture elastomer O-rings from various synthetic rubbers, such as NBR, FKM, EPDM, VMQ, etc., with a PTFE encapsulation.
By combining the elastic properties of the rubber rings with the good chemical resistance of the medium, high-performance seals are created.
PTFE offers sealing elements for a wide range of applications, such as in the petrochemical industry, pharmaceutical industry, food industry, etc.
The position of the joint or overlap of the encapsulation should be selected contrary to the direction of media attack.

Frequently Asked Questions about PTFE Seals
What distinguishes PTFE seals from Höfert?
PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) is a high-performance material for seals at Alwin Höfert KG with excellent chemical, electrical and thermal properties. PTFE seals offer exceptional chemical resistance and can be used within a wide temperature range from –200 °C to +260 °C. This makes them particularly suitable for demanding industrial applications, such as in valves, pumps or flanges.
For which applications are PTFE seals suitable?
PTFE seals are ideal for extreme operating conditions where high temperatures, aggressive media or high chemical resistance are required. Höfert manufactures PTFE components, for example, for valves, pumps, flanges, shaft seals and piston seals. These products are used in industries such as petrochemicals, food or pharmaceuticals, where outstanding material properties are essential.
What temperature ranges does PTFE cover?
A major advantage of PTFE materials is their wide temperature window: they remain resistant to cold and heat from approximately –200 °C to +260 °C. Within this range, PTFE seals retain their dimensional stability and performance, making them suitable for temperature applications in which other plastics would fail.
What are PTFE-encapsulated O-rings?
In addition to pure PTFE seals, Höfert also manufactures PTFE-encapsulated elastomer O-rings. In this design, an elastic core (e.g. made of NBR, FKM, EPDM or VMQ) is encapsulated with a PTFE jacket. This combination merges the elasticity of the core material with the chemical resistance of the PTFE outer layer and is particularly suitable for demanding media in which conventional O-rings would quickly fail.
